Reducing Emissions
We are working to minimise reliance on fossil fuels and our goal is for zero net emissions from energy by 2030. Our Emissions reduction strategies include:
Working with Warwick Solar Panels to design and install a stand-alone power system, known as a SAPS, to be totally independent of the main grid supply. The battery storage system has a series of batteries, an inverter, and a control system. The battery stores excess solar energy that can be used during times when the sun is not shining. The Selectronic inverter is Australian made by an Australian owned company that has been delivering energy solutions to Australia and the world since 1964. The Selectronic SP PRO is the only multi-mode, bi-directional inverter charger made in Australia and forms the heart of the system.
The cottage and residence operate on this system with 10.73kwh solar panels and 19.3kwh battery storage. A 10kva generator provides a back-up for short periods when the sun doesn’t shine as brightly as it can.
A separate 6kVa system generates renewable energy and feeds it directly to grid
Minimising transport energy use by using an electric vehicle for purchasing and changing it with green energy at a nearby community EV charging station in Warwick thanks to the University of Queensland Solar Farm.
Participation in the Australian Tourism Industry Council’s Tourism Emission Reduction Program which will provide an emissions estimate, the skills to track our emissions and a tailored emissions reduction plan.
